The CORE Tower is a 38-inch red light and near-infrared therapy device built to work both inside a Clearlight Infrared Sauna and as a standalone unit anywhere in your home. It uses 140 medical-grade LEDs (70 red at 650nm and 70 near-infrared at 850nm) and Clearlight's Variable Optics™ lens system to deliver clinical-grade light therapy. It's the only Clearlight Red Light Therapy tower engineered to operate inside a hot sauna environment.

The CORE Tower uses two wavelengths: 650nm red light and 850nm near-infrared. Red 650nm is absorbed by surface tissue and supports skin health, collagen production, and circulation, while near-infrared 850nm penetrates deeper to reach muscles, joints, and connective tissue. Combining both wavelengths in a single fixture gives you full-depth coverage in one session, which is why every tower in the Clearlight RLT line uses this dual-wavelength approach.

Most red light panels use a single fixed lens angle. The CORE Tower uses two lens types in one fixture: narrow lenses (7°–30°) that concentrate light for higher irradiance on smaller treatment areas, and wide lenses (40°–60°) that spread light across a larger surface for broader coverage. The narrow lenses deliver 75–110 mW/cm² of irradiance at 4 inches; the wide lenses deliver 55–85 mW/cm² at the same distance. You get high-intensity targeted treatment and broad coverage from the same device.

Yes — the CORE is the only Clearlight Red Light Therapy tower designed and built to withstand sauna heat. It mounts directly to the inside of your sauna door using included hardware, combining infrared sauna sessions with red light therapy in a single experience. Important: because the CORE draws an additional 200W, most Clearlight sauna models require an electrical circuit upgrade before installation. See the next question for the full compatibility table.

Mounting the CORE Tower itself is a simple DIY job — the included hardware attaches to your Clearlight sauna door in minutes. But if your sauna model requires a circuit upgrade (see the compatibility table above), the electrical work should be done by a licensed electrician. If you're using the CORE outside of a sauna, no electrical work is needed at all — it plugs into a standard 120V household outlet via the included wall adapter.

The CORE Tower's sauna door mount is engineered for the glass door geometry of Clearlight Sanctuary and Premier saunas. We don't recommend installing it inside non-Clearlight saunas because the mounting hardware, glass thickness, and electrical integration are designed around Clearlight's specifications. For non-Clearlight saunas, the CORE Tower can still be used outside the sauna with any of the available stand or wall mount options.

Clearlight's official usage guide recommends:

• Standing 6"–10" away — 15 to 20-minute sessions for general health, wellness, and energy
• Sitting 12"–24" away — 20 to 30-minute sessions for broader full-body coverage
• Spot treatment 4"–6" away — 10 to 20 minutes per area for targeted concerns

The included floor stand is designed so your feet align with the base at the ideal 6-inch distance for standing sessions.

Daily use is recommended when you're starting out, then taper to three or four sessions per week as your routine matures. For targeted areas with concentrated pain, treatments can be done two to three times per day. Per Clearlight's guidance, there's no such thing as "too much" light therapy — after a certain point your body simply stops absorbing additional light, so you can't overdose on a session.

Most users start noticing changes within two to four weeks of consistent daily use — improved skin tone, better recovery from workouts, or reduced muscle soreness. Deeper benefits (joint mobility, sleep quality, chronic pain relief) typically emerge over six to twelve weeks. Red light therapy is a cumulative therapy: consistency matters more than session length, and results are dose-dependent over time.

No — special eye protection is not required. Per Clearlight's safety documentation, the CORE Tower can be used safely without eye protection, and standard sunglasses provide adequate protection if you'd like extra comfort. We include optional goggles in the box for added comfort during the initial adjustment period, but you are not required to wear them. As a general rule, avoid staring directly into the LEDs.

It has been independently tested for low EMF emissions by an external lab. Standard safety precautions apply: don't use it while sleeping, near water, on infants, or unsupervised by children, and don't touch the metal housing while it's running inside a hot sauna.

Red light therapy is generally safe and pain-free, but Clearlight recommends consulting your doctor before starting if you have a serious health issue or chronic illness, take photosensitizing medications (some antibiotics, retinoids, certain blood pressure medications), have a condition like lupus, or have bipolar disorder (rare cases of mania have been reported). Some users experience minor side effects when first starting — mild headaches, irritability, or eye strain — which typically resolve once the body adjusts.

Clearlight does not specifically prohibit use during pregnancy, but we recommend consulting your doctor or OB before starting any new therapy while pregnant. There is no published evidence that red light therapy is harmful during pregnancy, but every pregnancy is different and a medical professional should make the call.

Turn on the main power switch on the top of the tower. The front panel lights up with a small red indicator. Press one of the six timer presets — 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 minutes — to start a session. Press the Play/Pause button to pause and resume mid-session. To reset, hold Play/Pause for 2–3 seconds for standby, then press a new time button. The LED countdown shows therapy time remaining in 5-minute increments and flashes during the final 4 minutes.

The CORE Tower has whisper-quiet maglev fans at the top and bottom of the fixture for cooling. You'll hear a soft hum during operation but it's quiet enough for use in a bedroom or office without being disruptive. After you turn the tower off, the fans may continue running for up to 5 minutes to fully cool the LEDs — this is normal and protects the unit's lifespan.

Yes. The CORE Tower has a timer override mode for use with automated smart plugs (Alexa, Google Home, Apple HomeKit-compatible plugs all work). Hold the 5-minute and 30-minute buttons together, then press Play/Pause to enter override mode. Once active, the tower will power on automatically when the smart plug supplies power — useful for hands-free morning routines or scheduled sessions.

Yes. The control panel features tactile switches and Braille markings on all timer buttons.

The CORE Tower measures 38 inches tall × 5 inches wide × 4 inches deep and weighs 15 pounds. The included wall adapter cord is 70 inches long; the tower's own coiled power cord is 25 inches when not stretched.

100–240V AC, 50–60 Hz, 200W. The plug type is IEC C14, which connects to the included external wall adapter — the wall adapter then plugs into a standard household outlet. Unlike the Full Body and Personal towers (which use direct NEMA 5-15P plugs), the CORE uses an external wall adapter to support its in-sauna integration. No special outlet is needed for standalone room use.

Occasional dusting with a light damp cloth is all the maintenance the tower needs — always with the unit unplugged. Do not use heavy water, harsh chemicals, or abrasive cleaners. When not in use, store the tower unplugged in a dry location and cover it with the included dust bag to keep the LEDs free of debris.

Clearlight's medical-grade LEDs are rated for tens of thousands of hours of continuous use — well beyond a decade of typical home use. The powder-coated stainless steel body is built to withstand both household and commercial environments, and the 5-year warranty covers both residential and commercial use.

The CORE Tower carries a 5-year warranty on workmanship and electrical components for both residential and commercial use. The warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials, workmanship, and design under normal use. Sauna Works (Clearlight's parent company) will repair or replace defective units at their discretion.
