It's two appliances in one cabinet: a 10.5 kW traditional sauna heater and a steamer, sharing a single floor-standing unit. You can run it as a dry Finnish sauna, as a humid steam room, or with both together — which is what "combi" means.

A regular heater gives you dry heat plus whatever brief steam you make by ladling water on the stones. A combi adds a separate water reservoir and steamer element that produces continuous, controlled humidity independently of the stones. You set the humidity level and it holds it.

It's a sauna that can behave like one. A true steam room runs around 110°F at 100% humidity with tiled surfaces; this is a traditional wood-lined sauna that can run humid. If you want a genuine steam room, that's a different product entirely and we can point you at one.

Rooms from 175 to 635 cubic feet — a substantial range, suited to medium and large saunas.

Length × width × height in feet. An 8' × 8' room with a 7' ceiling is 448 cubic feet, well within range. If you're near either end of the band, send us your dimensions and we'll check it properly.

Yes. Glass sheds heat faster than insulated timber, so a glass-fronted room behaves like a larger one. Tell us your glass area before you order and we'll size against it rather than raw volume.

Depends on your humidity setting and session length. Higher humidity consumes water faster. If you run long or frequent sessions, the automatic fill option is worth considering so you're not refilling mid-session.

Not necessarily. The Combi supports both manual and automatic water filling. Manual means you fill the reservoir by hand — no plumbing at all. Automatic means a water line to the unit, which needs to be planned before installation. Decide which you want before your build, because retrofitting a water line is far harder than running one during construction.

Manual is simpler, cheaper, and fine for a home sauna used a few times a week. Automatic makes sense for long sessions, frequent use, or any commercial installation where nobody wants to be refilling a tank between guests. Tell us which you're planning and we'll make sure the quote reflects it.

Clean fresh water only. Never salt water, mineral-heavy water if you can avoid it, or anything with additives — they scale the reservoir and damage the steamer element.

Any steamer will if your water is hard. The reservoir needs periodic descaling, and how often depends entirely on your water. The manual covers the procedure — it's routine maintenance, not a fault, but it does need doing.

Only sauna-specific fragrances, and follow the manual on where they go — some combi units have a dedicated fragrance cup rather than adding them to the reservoir itself. Never put oils directly into the water tank unless the manual explicitly permits it; it fouls the element.

Yes. Standing water in a warm tank is how you get scale and odour. Emptying after each session is the single habit that keeps a combi steamer trouble-free.

Yes, and it has to be a combi controller. The HL110SA pairs with the Xenio CX30C — a standard sauna controller can't manage the steamer, so this isn't a place to economise or reuse an existing panel.

No. Combi heaters require a combi controller with humidity control. Ask us and we'll quote heater and controller together so nothing arrives incompatible.

240V single phase, drawing 29.2 amps on a 40-amp line fuse. It's hardwired — no plug. A three-phase version is also available if that's what your building has.

Your panel capacity. A 40-amp dedicated circuit is a real addition to a domestic service, and if your panel is already close to full you may need an upgrade before the sauna is even on the table. Worth getting an electrician to look before you order.

No. Harvia heaters should not be run on GFCI — it causes nuisance tripping and voids the warranty. If your electrician suggests one, point them at the installation manual first.

On the floor, against a sidewall or in a corner. Unlike the wall-mounted KIP and Spirit heaters, this one stands on the sauna floor.

16" wide × 19" deep × 33" high (406 × 482 × 840 mm). Note it's deeper than the non-combi Virta because of the water reservoir — worth checking against your floor plan if you were sizing around the standard model.

71.7 lbs empty. With 150 lbs of stones and a full reservoir it's well over 230 lbs in place, so the floor beneath it needs to be sound.

Minimum clearances to walls, benches and ceiling are in the installation manual and they're a fire-safety requirement, not a suggestion. On a floor-standing unit you also need to think about traffic flow — people shouldn't be brushing past it.

A floor-standing heater in a room with bare feet and limited visibility is worth protecting. Check the manual's requirements and ask us about a matching guard if you want one — particularly relevant if children will use the sauna.

No. The HL110SA takes 150 lbs of split-face stones — four boxes of Harvia AC3020, 10–15 cm — ordered separately. The heater won't run safely without them.

Larger heaters need larger stones. The AC3020 at 10–15 cm is the specified size for the Virta; the smaller AC3000 stones used in the KIP series would pack too densely in a heater this size and restrict airflow. Don't substitute.

150 lbs of stone mass is what makes this heater suited to long, frequent sessions. More stone means more stored heat, a more sustained löyly, and steadier temperature across a large room.

Only proper sauna stones in the specified size. Never river rock, granite, or decorative landscape stone — ordinary rock can crack or explode when water hits it at temperature.

Rinse them first, then stack loosely so air moves freely between them. Never wedge them tight or force them around the elements. Packing too densely restricts airflow and shortens element life.

Inspect them once a year. They break down with repeated heating and cooling, and crumbling stones choke airflow. Restack as they settle, replace when they start falling apart. On a heater designed for frequent use, this matters more than usual.

Yes. The steamer doesn't replace traditional löyly — you can ladle water over the stones exactly as you would on any traditional heater. Plain water, a ladleful at a time, never onto the elements directly.

Control and continuity. Ladling gives a sharp burst that fades; the steamer holds a set humidity for the whole session. Many owners run gentle background humidity from the steamer and still ladle for the occasional hit of löyly on top.

Maximum setting is 194°F (90°C). In combi mode you'd normally run cooler than a dry sauna — high heat and high humidity together become uncomfortable quickly, so most people drop the temperature when they raise the moisture.

Humid heat feels more intense than dry heat at the same temperature because sweat evaporates less readily. Start conservatively, keep sessions shorter than you would in a dry sauna, and drink water. If you have any cardiovascular condition or are pregnant, talk to your doctor before using any sauna.

The heater, the water reservoir, the temperature sensor, the installation and operation manual, and the warranty. Stones and the CX30C controller are separate.

It also requires a combi controller rather than a standard one, and costs meaningfully more. If you don't want controlled humidity, the standard Virta does everything else identically.

Same heater, different output. The 8 kW and 9 kW Combis suit smaller rooms; this 10.5 kW covers the largest range at 635 cubic feet. Size to your room rather than buying headroom.

No. Too much output means the heater reaches temperature and shuts off before the stones are properly charged, giving you a hot room with weak steam — the opposite of what you want.

Drain the reservoir after each session, descale it periodically according to your water hardness, check and restack the stones annually, wipe the casing occasionally, and let the room air out after use. The steamer is the part that needs attention — a heater alone needs almost none.
