Canadian Timber Luna Sauna: Rounded Cedar, Built Board by Board
The Luna is what happens when a Canadian sauna builder stops thinking in boxes. Its signature rounded corners give the cabin a softness you feel the moment you step inside — the walls curve away from you rather than closing in, and a 4-person interior reads far larger than its footprint suggests. Built in Melancthon, Ontario from 100% Canadian cedar, it's a sauna designed to sit in a backyard for decades rather than a few seasons.
Solid Cedar Staves, Not Panels
Most outdoor saunas arrive as prefabricated wall panels. The Luna doesn't. It's built board by board from premium Grade-A solid cedar staves — seamless lengths with no tenon joints running through them — assembled on site, with threaded rods drawing the front and back walls tight. That construction has a practical consequence worth knowing: because the sauna arrives as individual boards rather than finished wall sections, it can be carried through a standard doorway, down a narrow side yard, or around obstacles that would stop a panel-built cabin at the gate.
Wood That Belongs Outdoors
The Luna is built from Eastern White Cedar, which is naturally decay-resistant — it doesn't need chemical treatment to survive weather. The same wood carries the Luna through hard Canadian winters and humid summers alike. Left alone, the exterior silvers gracefully. Stained with a Livos oil finish, it holds its warmth.
A Roof That Actually Sheds Water
The Luna's roof is protected by an EPDM rubber membrane with a slight slope built in, so water runs off rather than pooling. Cedar trims finish the edges so the waterproofing never shows. It's an unglamorous detail that separates a sauna you'll still be using in fifteen years from one you'll be repairing in five.
Room to Actually Lie Down
Inside, two tiers of cedar benches — a lower bench at 16½" and an upper at 33½" — run nearly 80 inches long. That's enough to stretch out fully rather than sit upright with your knees tucked, which is the difference between a sauna you use and a sauna you admire from the kitchen window. Bronze tempered glass in the door and window keeps the cabin bright without putting you on display.
Electric Heat, Sized to the Room
The Luna is an electric-only cabin, and its 315 cubic foot interior calls for a heater in the 6–9 kW range. The right number within that band depends on your climate, how quickly you want it up to temperature, and whether you want Wi-Fi control so it's ready when you arrive. We'll size it with you rather than defaulting to the middle of the range — and we'll give you the exact circuit requirements to hand your electrician before anything gets wired.
Configure It to Your Site
Beyond the heater, the Luna offers a few decisions worth making before the order goes in: a floor plate or adjustable install base if your pad isn't perfectly level, interior lighting from a single sauna light up to full SaunaGlo LED strips, and a factory-applied Livos oil stain in several tones if you want the exterior finished rather than natural. All of it is factory work, so it costs far less now than it would later. Talk to us about pairing it with a cold plunge or a set of cedar accessories while you're at it — ask your specialist about bundled pricing.

Safety & Certifications
The Luna is built from Eastern White Cedar. Door and window glazing is 5 mm bronze tempered safety glass throughout. The sauna carries a 5-year residential limited warranty from Dundalk LeisureCraft against defects in materials and workmanship.
Electrical safety certification belongs to the heater you select rather than the cabin — every heater we supply is ETL or UL listed for North American installation, and we'll confirm the listing on your chosen model in writing before you order. All electrical work must be performed by a licensed electrician to local code.
Resources
Full documentation is available for this sauna. The Product Drawing covers exterior and interior dimensions, bench heights, door and window placement, and floor support spacing — worth reviewing before you pour a pad or plan your access route. The Assembly Instructions walk through the board-by-board build sequence, and Dundalk publishes an accompanying assembly video. Both are supplied with your order and available on request beforehand at (302) 273-0861 or info@thesaunarepublic.com.
