How Freight Delivery Works
Large items (saunas, cold plunges, hot tubs) ship via LTL freight. Smaller items (heaters, accessories, wellness devices, Lumaflex, red light towers) ship via UPS, FedEx, or USPS.
1. We ship your order. Tracking is emailed to you with the estimated delivery timeline.
2. The carrier calls you. The freight company calls to schedule your delivery appointment. You pick the date and time window.
3. Curbside delivery. Delivery is to the curb via semi-truck with liftgate (when available). You'll need a plan to move it from the curb to its final location.
4. Sign and inspect. You must be present to sign. Inspect for damage before signing — note any issues on the delivery receipt.
Unloading Your Sauna
The driver delivers to the curb only. You are responsible for moving the product to its final location. Have equipment and help arranged before delivery day.
Rent a forklift — Most common choice. Requires forklift extensions. ~$150–300/day.
Hire a tilt tow truck — Flatbed tow with tilt/slide functionality. ~$200–400.
Hire a rigging/moving crew — Professional movers with equipment. Get quotes in advance.
Tilt tow service (Dundalk only) — Available for $750. Contact us to add to your order.
Clearlight saunas ship in flat panels, not pre-assembled crates. Most can be carried inside by two people without heavy equipment. Dundalk saunas ship in crates exceeding 92" and 800–1,600 lbs — liftgate service is not available for these shipments.
Damage Claims
If your order arrives damaged, we'll get you a replacement as quickly as possible.
1. Inspect packaging for visible damage before signing.
2. Note damage on the delivery receipt — write "damaged" and have the driver sign.
3. Take photos of packaging and product damage.
4. Email photos to info@thesaunarepublic.com with your order number within 24 hours.
5. We file the claim and ship your replacement.
Damage must be reported within 24 hours of delivery with photos. Claims filed after 24 hours may not be eligible for a free replacement. Always note visible damage on the delivery receipt — even if it seems minor.

Dundalk Canadian Timber
All Sales Final — No Returns
All Dundalk products (saunas, cold plunges, accessories) are handcrafted to order in Ontario, Canada. Returns and refunds are not available. Full manufacturer warranty applies for defects.
Cancellation
Within 14 days of order — full refund, no fee.
After 14 days — $65 cancellation fee applies.
Once production begins — cannot be cancelled (typically 2+ weeks after order).
Backorder Cancellation
Orders containing backordered items are subject to a 6% cancellation fee as we are charged by our payment processor when backorders are cancelled. All lead times are estimates and subject to change.
HSA/FSA Purchases
Our standard return policy applies to all HSA/FSA purchases. Products with brand-specific exceptions follow those policies. There is no IRS requirement that HSA/FSA purchases be final sale.
HSA/FSA refunds are processed back to your original HSA/FSA card within 3–10 business days. Truemed cannot redirect refunds to a different payment method.
HSA holders: Notify your custodian to treat the original purchase as a "mistaken distribution" under IRS Notice 2004-50. Returned funds are not subject to income tax or penalties.
FSA holders: The refund goes back to your FSA plan via the original card. If your plan year has ended, the use-it-or-lose-it rule may apply. FSA holders should be especially sure of their purchase before buying.

How many people does the SaunaLife S1 fit?
The S1 is designed for one bather, with a contoured interior measuring 34.4" in diameter and 36" deep and a 124-gallon water capacity for full-body submersion.
What's the difference between the natural and black versions?
Only the exterior finish. Both are built from the same enhanced Thermo-Pine with the same contoured fiberglass interior, dimensions, and included FDC-1A chiller — choose natural for a classic wood look or black for a modern finish.
Can it be used as both a cold plunge and a hot tub?
Yes. The included FDC-1A unit both chills and heats, so the same tub serves as a cold plunge or a warm immersion soak depending on your setting.
How cold and how warm can the water get?
The system reaches a bracing 32°F for cold-water therapy and warms to a soothing 108°F for hot immersion.
Does the tub arrive assembled?
Yes. The S1 arrives fully assembled — remove the packaging, set the steps in place, connect the chiller, and fill with water.
What kind of base or foundation does it need?
The base must be level, stable, and at least three inches above the surrounding ground. SaunaLife recommends concrete blocks or strips over compacted gravel, with an optional geotextile layer to prevent weed growth. An existing terrace or paved surface also works, provided the tub sits at least three inches above the surrounding surface.
What electrical does the chiller require?
The FDC-1A runs on a standard 110–120V / 60Hz supply and draws 15 amps. It plugs into the supplied GFCI cord — no high-voltage or hardwired circuit is needed.
Do I need an electrician?
No. The chiller is plug-and-play and connects to a standard grounded GFCI outlet. SaunaLife recommends plugging it directly into a wall outlet rather than a power strip for stable operation.
How does the chiller connect to the tub?
The chiller links to the tub's 3/4" NPT connections using the supplied quick-connect hoses. The chiller's INLET connects to the tub's OUT port, and the chiller's OUTLET connects to the tub's IN port. Never run the chiller with the valves closed.
Is there anything I need to do before the first use?
Keep the chiller upright and unplugged for at least 24 hours before first use so the refrigerant can settle — running it sooner can cause damage that isn't covered under warranty.
How much clearance does the chiller need?
Leave about 20 inches of space on the sides and front of the chiller for proper airflow, and install it on the same level as the tub.
Can the chiller be installed indoors or in a cabinet?
It can be used indoors with adequate ventilation, but it should not be placed in enclosed spaces like small cabinets or closets unless they're specially modified for ventilation. Keep the touchscreen away from rain and damp conditions.
How is the water kept clean?
A built-in ozone generator disinfects the water, working alongside a 5" main circulation filter and a secondary hairnet filter that capture everyday debris.
How often do the filters need attention?
Check the filters every 10 uses and clean or replace them when dirty. The core filter cartridge should be replaced periodically per the chiller manual. Replacement filters are available through us.
Can I control the temperature from my phone?
Yes. Set and monitor temperature on the chiller's LCD touchscreen, or connect the unit to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and control it through the smartphone app.
How much water does it hold?
The S1 holds 124 gallons.
What is the tub made of?
The surround is enhanced Thermo-Pine, 1.65" thick, with a 0.7" Thermowood wall structure and a thick contoured fiberglass insert that forms the interior.
How much does it weigh?
The tub has a net weight of 143 lbs and a shipping weight of 265 lbs. The chiller ships at 125 lbs.
Can I use it outdoors in winter?
Yes, but in freezing conditions always drain the water from the tub after use and leave the drain valve open. Trapped water can freeze and damage the tub, valve, or chiller. Refer to the chiller manual for cold-weather storage steps.
How do I clean and maintain the tub?
Rinse the tub after each use, and shower before getting in to keep the water cleaner. You can wash it with a pressure washer and mild household detergent using a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive materials and chlorine-containing cleaners, which can discolor the surface. Treat the wooden parts with an exterior-grade wood oil at least once a year.
What refrigerant does the chiller use?
The FDC-1A uses R410a refrigerant in a sealed circuit. The refrigerant system should never be punctured or damaged — there are no user-serviceable parts inside the sealed circuit.
Is the chiller loud?
No. The FDC-1A uses a low-noise design intended for quiet operation in residential settings.
Do I need to add ice?
No. The chiller cools the water electrically, so there's no need to haul or add ice to reach cold-plunge temperatures.
Is this eligible for HSA/FSA?

What's included with the package?

How is it delivered?
The S1 ships as a palletized LTL freight delivery to the continental US with complimentary shipping. Delivery is curbside, so plan for help moving the tub and chiller into final position.
Are there any health precautions?
Sudden or prolonged exposure to extreme water temperatures places stress on the body. If you have, or suspect you have, a medical condition, consult your physician before use. This product is not a substitute for medical care.
