Your body makes vitamin D when UVB light reaches your skin. That's not a supplement mechanism or a wellness theory — it's basic physiology. The problem is access. Most of us spend the day indoors, and in northern latitudes the winter sun doesn't deliver much usable UVB regardless of how long you stand in it.

The SUN ONE Wellness Lamp is Clearlight's answer: a compact, rechargeable device that delivers UVB light in a controlled, repeatable format you can use in three minutes a day at home.

Why 295 Nanometers

UVB occupies a narrow band between 280 and 315 nm, and the body doesn't respond to all of it equally. The SUN ONE is engineered to a peak wavelength of 295 nm — the range research has identified as the most efficient for initiating the skin's natural vitamin D process. Clinical UVB devices often run at 311 or 313 nm, wavelengths chosen for dermatological treatment rather than vitamin D synthesis.

Output is ≥99% UVB with ≤1% UVA, delivered by quartz-glass LEDs rather than fluorescent tubes. There are no bulbs to replace and no warm-up period, and the LEDs are rated beyond 1,000 hours of use.

Built to Stop You From Overdoing It

Most of the risk with UV exposure comes from getting the dose wrong, so the SUN ONE is designed to make the correct dose the easy one.

A time-of-flight distance sensor watches your position continuously. Stand within the 9.8–15.7 inch window and the status light glows white. Drift outside it and the light pauses, the ring turns red, and an audible alert sounds — remain out of range for ten seconds and the session simply ends.

Sessions are set by Fitzpatrick skin type, from one minute for Type I up to five for Type VI, and the timer cannot be increased beyond your skin type's maximum. You can shorten a session; you cannot lengthen it past what's appropriate. Everyone starts at 30–60 seconds regardless of type and builds gradually over weeks.

Voice prompts in ten languages walk you through setup and remind you about eyewear. UVB protective eyewear is included in the box, along with an adhesive clip so it lives on the device and is never the thing you forgot.

Pairs With Your Sauna Session

The SUN ONE is cordless, runs about 60 minutes per charge, and weighs 3.6 lbs with handles designed to be carried. It can be used inside your Clearlight sauna, stacking heat and UVB in a single session — though it should never be charged in there, and regular sauna use will shorten battery life. For hands-free positioning, the optional SUN ONE Articulating Arm mounts to the wall with 360° rotation and folds flat when you're done.

Do Not Use If You

• Are under 18 years of age

• Have a medical condition involving photosensitivity, unless your physician has approved UVB exposure
• Are taking medications that increase sensitivity to UV light without medical supervision

Medications and Photosensitivity

Certain oral, topical, and injected medications increase the skin's sensitivity to UV light. Examples include some antibiotics, diuretics, acne treatments, antidepressants, and psoralen medications. Psoralens can cause extreme UV sensitivity and should only be combined with UVB exposure under direct physician supervision. This list is not exhaustive — if you take any medication, check its warnings and consult your physician or pharmacist before use.

Before Each Session

• Always wear the provided protective eyewear. Contact lenses, glasses, and sunglasses are not a substitute, and everyone in the room must wear eye protection during operation.
• Remove cosmetics, fragrances, essential oils, and skincare products from the exposure area. Do not apply sunscreen or tanning accelerators.
• Cover scars, tattoos, and sensitive areas. Direct exposure over tattoos is not recommended.
• Do not expose medication patches or the skin beneath them.
• Skip your session if you have had significant sun or tanning-bed exposure within the last 24 hours.

Exposure Protocol

Begin at 30–60 seconds regardless of skin type, and allow at least 48 hours between your first two sessions. Increase gradually over several weeks toward the maximum time for your skin type. If redness occurs, stop until it clears fully (usually 24–48 hours) and resume at a lower time. Do not exceed one session per day. For best results, use on larger areas that are not regularly sun-exposed, such as the stomach, back, or legs — avoid the face, head, chest, and shoulders.
